Drinking fountain tour through Stuttgart

Stuttgart is Germany's mineral water capital! There are a total of 19 publicly accessible drinking fountains, which are fed by various springs. Because the springs run through different layers of rock and are enriched with different minerals, no two taste the same. A good opportunity to sharpen your senses on a mineral water tasting tour!

On the road with Dominik Kuhn

Dominik "Dodokay" Kuhn is a producer, comedian and musician. He is curious about everything. He recently drew attention to Stuttgart's public baths with his radio commercial for them and simply wants to find out more about them - no sooner said than done! Together we visited the Bad Cannstatt fountains and tasted the mineral water.

Wilhelmsbrunnen fountain and Daimler spring

Just behind the Kursaal in Bad Cannstatt's Kurpark, you will come across these two drinking fountains, which have very different tastes: The Daimler spring tastes very salty.

The fountain, named after the lute-playing statue in its center, is also located in the Kursaal grounds of Bad Cannstatt and is fed from Wilhelmsbrunnen II.

The mineral water from the two Wilhelmsbrunnen wells comes from the same borehole. However, the water is drawn from different depths - and you can taste that too.

"Of course, I've been to all of Stuttgart's thermal spas," says Kuhn, who is always busy in Bad Cannstatt, "but this was my first time in the beautifully renovated Berg mineral baths." He has only ever taken a passing interest in the brine and healing water, but now it was time for a proper test.

He took three things away from the tasting tour in Bad Cannstatt: "Firstly, the three springs taste similar, but not the same, secondly, I am convinced that the water is not only healthy, but also boosts creativity, and thirdly, my favorite is the Daimler spring - because of the taste, of course." He winks.

Got a taste for it?

Would you also like to test yourself through Stuttgart's drinking fountains or taste fresh mineral water near you? You can find more information about the location and mineral content of Stuttgart's drinking fountains here. But you will also find what you are looking for outside of Stuttgart! In many spa towns in Baden-Württemberg with their own mineral water springs, you can enjoy freshly tapped medicinal and mineral water.

In Bad Mergentheim's Brunnentempel, for example, the water from the three local springs is even offered at different drinking temperatures.

Bad Liebenzell
