On the trail of salt & brine
The impressions around Bad Wimpfen are varied and can be experienced during a salty break in the lovely lower Neckar valley.
Discover Bad Wimpfen, a charming little town with a great past, on a guided city tour through the largest preserved imperial palace north of the Alps. Learn more about the rich history of the Staufer dynasty and salt production in the region. Experience the healing effects of the brine by bathing in the pleasantly warm water of the brine baths in the spa town. The mineral bath Bad Wimpfen, idyllically situated directly on the Neckar, promises a refreshing dip in the summer months.
If you would like to actively explore the surrounding area, pedal and ride your bike or e-bike on the "Salt & Brine Cycle Path"“. Along the 38 km circular route, 16 information boards provide information about salt mining, processing and the salt trade in the Heilbronn region.
The Teutonic town of Gundelsheim is also located on the “Salt & Brine Cycle Path” and boasts Horneck Castle, the second largest castle on the Neckar after Heidelberg, charmingly nestled among the vineyards of the historic Himmelreich steep slope.
