Whether as a health resort and spa or as an address for culture enthusiasts and culinary connoisseurs - Bad Mergentheim has made a name for itself as a “health town in the middle of the lovely Tauber Valley”. The former residence town of the High and Teutonic Masters of the Teutonic Order has the carefree flair of a charming vacation town with the Mergentheim Residential Palace, the historic old town with its half-timbered houses and picturesque alleyways and courtyards.  

Bad Mergentheim has acquired a very high level of medical expertise over many decades since the discovery of the healing springs in 1826. There is a total of four healing springs, of which three are suitable for drinking and one for bathing. In the medicinal water dispensary in the Haus des Gastes in the middle of the spa park, the three drinking springs are available daily at drinking times and can be used by patients, spa guests and health vacationers.

The town is located directly on the “Liebliches Taubertal- Der Klassiker” cycle path, one of only two cycle paths in Germany to be awarded five stars by the German Cyclists' Association. The hiking opportunities in and around Bad Mergentheim include two designated Nordic walking routes and several circular hiking trails. 

Another highlight in Bad Mergentheim are its beautiful parks. These include the extensive palace park and the spa gardens with a variety of native and exotic trees as well as numerous attractions such as the graduation pavilion, rose garden, Japanese garden, herb garden and water features. The more than 130,000 square meter spa park is also a frequent venue for well-known festivals and events.
