In Baden-Württemberg’s spas and health resorts, couples will find wedding venues that are inextricably linked to the natural healing resources of each location. Whether you say “I do” deep underground, in historic spa-style buildings, right by the water, or surrounded by nature in the spa gardens—these venues reflect the identity and health culture of their surroundings, turning your wedding vows into a truly special, holistic experience.

Saying “yes” between bathing culture and history

This connection is particularly striking in places where historic sites are themselves part of the spa town’s history. In Badenweiler, couples get married in the ruins of the Roman baths—a place where the history of the spa town remains visible to this day and where an ancient inscription, “Si me amas—if you love me,” tells of love stories from the past.

In Baden-Baden, the path to your wedding ceremony leads to one of the grandest venues of European spa culture: the Kurhaus, home to the world-famous casino. The Salon Pompadour, inspired by the Villa Trianon in Versailles, combines magnificent décor with the elegance that has defined Baden-Baden as a spa town steeped in tradition.

Bad Wildbad carries on this tradition of spa culture, spa architecture, and parkland in its own unique way. At the Forum König-Karls-Bad, one of the most impressive former spa buildings in Baden-Württemberg, the domed hall provides a festive setting for wedding ceremonies. The stylish, historic ambiance and the picturesque staircase make for the perfect backdrop for wedding photos.

A Wedding in a Mine Tunnel, by the Moor, and Near the Water

It’s not just glamorous banquet halls that demonstrate how closely weddings in health resorts and spa towns can be linked to natural remedies and the identity of each location. Even in places where therapeutic benefits and a special atmosphere set the stage, couples have a charming opportunity to tie the knot. An extraordinary example of this is the Tiefer Stollen visitor mine in Aalen-Wasseralfingen. The former iron ore mine is also a recognized healing tunnel, whose unique microclimate fosters a sense of calm and makes the moment feel intensely special. The historic mine train takes the couple and their guests 400 meters deep into the Braunenberg, where, at the heart of the mountain, a sandstone hall designed specifically for the big day awaits. Here, every wedding ceremony becomes a magical event that the bride and groom and their guests will remember for a long time to come.

© Stadt Aalen – Tobias Holzinger

© Stadt Aalen – Tobias Holzinger

Bad Wurzach is another example of how wedding venues can be closely linked to a natural healing remedy. Maria Rosengarten, the former convent, is considered the cradle of mud bathing and is the historic origin of the spa. A separate wedding room is available there for smaller groups. Other top venues include the "Kursaal" at the "Kurpark" and the feelMOOR Health Resort. A particularly convenient feature: wedding guests can stay overnight right here.

In Bad Buchau, too, the moor shapes the atmosphere of the spa town. With its water and vast reed beds, the Federsee area is not merely a backdrop but forms the scenic heart of the town. Couples can exchange vows in the Golden Hall of the Federsee Clinic or in the Hall of Mirrors at the Schlossklinik. One venue features stucco ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and gold accents for a festive splendor, while the other offers bright, open spaces and the unique effect of skillfully arranged mirrors.

Health resorts with character and history

Bad Mergentheim is considered one of the region’s most historic spa towns. The discovery of several healing springs in the 19th century laid the foundation for its rise as a recognized health resort. To this day, the “Paulsquelle” brine spring shapes the town’s health offerings. It feeds the brine pools at the Solymar Therme Bad Mergentheim and simultaneously enriches the air in the graduation pavilion in the spa park with fine salt aerosols. The expansive spa park, with its old trees, drinking fountains, and peaceful paths, combines exercise, breathing therapy, and relaxation. The historic old town and the Tauber Valley create a setting where spa stays and nature experiences blend together seamlessly.

Bad Wimpfen combines its role as a saltwater spa with an extraordinary historical setting. Perched high above the Neckar River, the town tells the story of the Staufer dynasty, early salt production, and a long tradition of spa bathing. The Bad Wimpfen saltwater spa builds on this heritage and uses the natural brine for bathing and inhalation treatments. The warm indoor and outdoor pools offer views of the surrounding landscape—complemented by tranquil sauna areas. The result is a place where history and relaxation tangibly come together.

Bad Rappenau has close ties to salt production. Former salt deposits gave rise to healing springs, which turned the town into a saltwater spa. Today, spacious parks, a historic moated castle, and modern bathing facilities define the town’s character. At RappSoDie, the bathing and sauna paradise, the indoor brine pool is currently being replaced by a modern new building as part of a comprehensive modernization project, while the popular sauna paradise remains largely intact and accessible; the reopening is planned for fall 2027. In addition to the water and wellness experience, walking paths, green spaces, and quiet retreats underscore the town’s classic spa character.

Bad Schönborn is located in the Kraichgau region and combines several health concepts. As a saltwater spa, a resort with healing springs, and a Kneipp center, the town is committed to a holistic approach to well-being. The thermal and saltwater pools at the Thermarium Bad Schönborn are fed by natural thermal saltwater springs that rise to the surface from great depths. Kneipp treatments, exercise programs, and nature-filled parks round out the experience. The interplay of water, exercise, and the landscape shapes the tranquil, balancing character of the town.

Spa parks as green wedding venues

Spa parks are places to breathe deeply, get some exercise, and socialize—and thus also special venues for weddings and celebrations. The Kurhaus and the pavilion in Bad Liebenzell offer two very different settings. While the Hall of Mirrors creates a festive atmosphere indoors, the pavilion allows for an open-air ceremony—nestled in the peaceful, green surroundings of the park. In this way, the town combines classic architecture with the lightheartedness of an outdoor celebration.

The Kurhaus in Bad Krozingen is also nestled in the heart of the countryside, bringing together two central elements of the spa town: grand architecture and nature. Since it houses a branch of the registry office, couples can exchange vows right here in this special setting. When the weather is nice, outdoor ceremonies are also possible here.

A veritable treasure trove of historic venues awaits couples looking to get married in Bad Wildbad: Here, the wedding venues are idyllically situated in the historic spa gardens. These include the English Church, the Art Nouveau gem known as the Vogelhaus, the Moorish Pavilion, and the Rose Garden. The historic drinking hall also highlights water as a healing remedy, while the Kursaal draws on the spa’s classical tradition.

With its expansive green space, Bad Dürrheim also fits right in with this list. Right in the heart of this saltwater spa and health resort, couples can begin their life together under the open sky—surrounded by old trees, well-manicured lawns, and the fresh air of the Black Forest.

Königsfeld in the Black Forest also embraces this charming idea. The white pavilion, located right next to a fountain and nestled among colorful flower beds and idyllic natural surroundings, serves as a symbol of the resort and the vacation destination. Here, couples can seal their love in a peaceful setting surrounded by nature.

A lifetime commitment with a lake view and open-air charm

Sometimes it’s the location, above all, that gives a wedding venue its unique charm. The Villa am See is situated right on the shore of Lake Constance in Überlingen. The civil registry office is housed there in a historic 19th-century building that bears witness to the region’s thriving spa culture. Surrounded by villa gardens, mature trees, and well-maintained green spaces, the location combines views of the water with the character of a mature park. A nearby Kneipp pool enhances the relaxing atmosphere and makes saying “I do” an unforgettable moment nestled among history, nature, and spa traditions.

Bad Säckingen also offers a spacious outdoor venue in the form of the concert shell in the castle park. When the weather is nice, it provides a special setting for larger weddings with seating for up to 250 guests. Whether on the stage or under the canopy in front of it, the bride and groom are beautifully showcased against the backdrop of the castle park. The open setting surrounded by greenery lends the ceremony a festive yet relaxed atmosphere, making the concert shell a wedding venue that seamlessly blends solemnity with the park’s natural beauty.

All these impressions show that the combination of unique architecture and a direct connection to natural remedies makes weddings at spas and health resorts an unforgettable experience. And in addition to the examples mentioned, numerous other spas and health resorts in Baden-Württemberg offer extraordinary venues for the most beautiful day of your life.

Pictures:

Cover image: Lena Usenko & Elina Leitz
Pictures Aalen: Stadt Aalen_Tobias Holzinger

Sources:

https://www.gemeinde-badenweiler.de/rathaus-service/heiraten-in-badenweiler
https://www.ueberlingen.de/standesamt
www.bad-wildbad.de/heiraten
https://daskurhaus.de/events-und-feiern/
https://www.gvvbadbuchau.de/gvv-aktuell/heiraten-im-federseegebiet
https://www.baden-baden.de/buergerservice/service/familiaeres/heirat/trausaele-trauorte
https://www.badsaeckingen.de/informationen-service/eventlocations-mieten
https://parkcafe-koenigsfeld.de/#events
https://www.schwarzwald-tourismus.info/attraktionen/kurpark-koenigsfeld-im-schwarzwald-eafb9e7023
https://www.badduerrheim.de/Freizeit-Tourismus/Service/Raeume-zu-mieten
https://www.bad-krozingen.info/Tagen-Feiern/Feiern-im-Kurhaus
https://www.bad-wurzach.de/stadt/de/startseite
https://www.aalen-tourismus.de/startseite.168406.htm

Wo Heilquellen sprudeln, Moorlandschaften das Bild prägen und grüne Oasen zum Verweilen einladen, erhalten besondere Tage einen einzigartigen Rahmen.
